“Our number one goal is to raise $250,000 to provide tuition assistance to families who want their children to attend neighborhood Catholic schools,” said Executive Director Dan Ryan. “As experience proves, education offers low-income children the best chance for success in life.”
About The Central City School Fund
Since 1989, the tuition assistance program has helped more than 10,000 families with the cost of education. Currently, 63% of grant recipients live in households with incomes at or below the poverty level and one-third live with grandparents or other guardians. Scholarships are available for students attending: Holy Cross, Our Lady of the Angels, Our Lady of Guadalupe, St. Monica and St. Stephen elementary schools.
“The Central City Schools provide students with a strong foundation in reading, writing and math,” said auction co-chair Louisa Weinrich. “Imagine the difference it would make in our community if all children had the chance to rise above economic barriers and succeed,” she said.
“The support from the community is essential for success,” said Ryan. “With help from Star 102s Nycki Pace, WDAF Fox 4s John Holt, and Bryan Truta of 105 Jack FM, we are telling the story of the children we serve,” he said. “Pace, Holt, and Truta will join the Nigro Brothers on stage to build enthusiasm for this year’s event.”
“Supporting the Back to Recess Auction is a great way to make a direct impact on local families in and around your neighborhoods, said auction co-chair Jeff Weinrich. “It is a win-win situation for all of those involved,” he said.
