We are excited to have Big Springs Texas and El Paso Texas added to our Walk
schedule. These Walks will both be in April 2009.
Our
Dream Team chairmen for
Big Springs are Terry Watkins and his wife, Maria. Terry is one of our
dialysis patients in Big Springs and has a heart of gold – he knows everyone and
isn’t afraid to tell anyone about kidney disease.
Our
Dream Team Chairman for El Paso is Dennis Alires, who is with Delta Engineering
Company in El Paso. Dennis was cornered by Cheyan Jackson, regional walk
and marketing director for the NKF Serving West Texas, on our plane ride
back to
Lubbock after finding out the needs of El Paso and the communities around
El Paso. Dennis made the mistake of telling Cheyan he wanted to get involved
with
the NKF and we wasted no time.
Now
for the Update on Both Walks
Big Springs has already raised more than $1,000 with their Walk, which
will be April 4, 2009, at 10 a.m.
El
Paso has a great Dream Team Committee and they are working on their location
and sponsorship levels for their Walk as well. The El Paso Walk
will take
place April 18, 2009, and we look forward into seeing what we can do
to help in the
El Paso area.
