NKF U.S. Transplant Games

XWVRSXKHGH

July 30-Aug. 4, 2010

Team Ohio

The U.S. Transplant Games are the nation's premiere athletic competition held every two years for recipients of all organ transplants. Competition in the U.S. Transplant Games is open to anyone whose most recent lifesaving solid organ transplant has been functioning for at least nine months.

This four-day Olympic-style event united more than 6,000 athletes and spectators from across the United States for exciting competition in 37 events, representing 13 sports. The National Kidney Foundation has presented the event since 1990.

Team Ohio is made up of 43 athletes competing in this year's Games. Currently, there are a total of 121 Team Ohio Members. The team is made up of transplant recipients, living donors, donor families, transplant professionals, family/friends and general supporters. We are currently the sixth largest team in the nation.

The purposes of the U.S. Transplant Games are …

  • To demonstrate to the public the collective and individual successes of the life restoring therapy of organ transplantation.
  • To use the mass media to promote the success of organ donation and transplantation and to call attention to the need for organ donation through events and support activity before, during and after the event.
  • To contribute to the successful rehabilitation of the nation's transplant patient community.
  • To involve the entire transplant community including physicians, allied professionals, patients, donor families and related organizations in a collaborative effort for the benefit of organ donation.
  • To provide an opportunity for these goals to be achieved locally by NKF Affiliates, Divisions and other participating organizations.

Thank you to our sponsors: The Ohio State University Medical Center, Cleveland Clinic, UC Health University Hospital, Riverside Nephrology Associates, University Hospitals Transplant Institute, The Christ Hospital, Cincinnati Children's Hospital, Butech Bliss, Lifeline of Ohio, LifeBanc, LifeCenter, and Life Connection.
