Dear Friends,
When times get tough, the tough gets going. Obviously, that was written with JDRF volunteers, Board and supporters in mind. Certainly this has been a challenging year for all. But this has not tempered the efforts that you in the LA Chapter make to help find a cure for type 1 diabetes. I have been here less than a year, and I’ve seen an amazing effort come forth to make the Walk and Gala succeed, to grow the Board of Directors, to introduce JDRF to new corporations and individuals and to expand Family Network to more newly diagnosed families and to individuals living with diabetes. We are an organization of people, and we succeed only through the efforts of people like you, who care … and who act. This past year, people like you made possible JDRF research grants of more than $100 million, grants that fund more than 1,000 projects and 45 clinical trials around the world. This is not just science, these are the programs most likely to succeed toward the complex solution of type 1 diabetes.
Together, we can make a difference. Together we can find a cure.
I welcome your thoughts, suggestions and ideas. Write me at rreid@jdrf.org. I look forward to hearing from you!
