2009 Annual Meeting

Untitled Document "I first got involved with JDRF when my daughter Hannah was diagnosed. In a very short time, I felt welcome and felt like I could do something for children with diabetes, not just to help Hannah, but to help everyone" said Todd Zeile, newly-elected president of the JDRF LA Board. Todd and Julianne Zeile greeted retiring and newly-elected board members at the June Annual Meeting, including retiring President Luke Strockis.

Todd retired from the NY Mets in 2004, after a 16-year career in major league baseball, with more than 250 home runs, 2,000 hits and over 1,000 RBIs. Todd’s daughter, Hannah, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at 18 months. Todd and Julianne are committed in the fight against diabetes. They are the proud parents of four children, Garrett, Hannah, Ian and Aaron. When not fighting diabetes, Todd leads Green Diamond Entertainment and assists youth and sports organizations. "It’s an honor to lead such a dedicated and caring group of volunteers. I look forward to working with JDRF to raise the funds we need to keep research on track."

Luke Strockis presented a surprised Joel Levy, of Levy and Rowe, LLP, with the President’s Award for Outstanding Board Service. "I want to retire JDRF by finding a cure," Joel said.

The JDRF LA Board of Directors helps fulfill the JDRF mission of finding a cure for diabetes and supporting the type 1 community. If you are interested in the board, please call Bob Reid at (213) 233-9909.
