SBLMKMTWSO
I hope everyone enjoyed your holidays with your families. It is hard to believe we are now into 2008! We are all very busy and I am sure that at times it can be tough to find that extra energy to continue to help drive JDRF support. But once you remember why we are all doing it, it surely becomes a lot easier. I know I can count on all of you to continue to help!
I am excited to tell you about the progress we are making in our chapter and very confident that the pace of this progress will continue to improve. One example of this progress is our strategic planning efforts. We began our planning in late 2007 and have begun to implement a few of our key opportunities already. I can tell you that we have many dedicated leaders from our Board of Directors and staff who continue to step up for JDRF (and we are always looking for more volunteers so please let us hear from you!).
Some of the exciting programs we are focused on are:
Outreach Program
Helping newly diagnosed families cope with diabetes by providing information and support. All of us can remember how tough those first days and weeks were when we were starving for information and suppor
Corporate Programs
It is incredible how successful our chapter is with our Long Island families raising so many dollars for JDRF. We’d like to help speed our progress toward the cure by also tapping further into corporate dollars on Long Island. If you think you might be able to help us with a contact at your company, please let us know! We see great opportunity here.
Board of Directors
Continue to develop our Board of Directors and also our committees who help to drive great programs and support all of our efforts as a chapter of JDRF.
Gala
Drive an annual successful Gala which raises significant funds for research and brings us closer to our overall goal – the cure!
East End Programs
Begin to further develop opportunities on the east end of Long Island. Some of our dedicated volunteers have made great progress on this goal and we are already planning an east end Walk for 2008!
We also have other opportunities we will be driving; these are just some of the key ones we have prioritized for this year. With the help of our dedicated staff and many fantastic volunteers, we will continue to march toward the cure! I promise to keep you posted as our progress continues.
Thanks for your continued support and efforts!
