A Great Party for Great Walkers!
The culmination of another successful Walk to Cure Diabetes season was the festive and fun Walk Awards and Appreciation Dinner, Nov. 28 at the Melville Marriott, attended by 500 of our best friends.
With a kid-friendly menu, music by Xtreme Sounds DJ, and the melodious Voice of JDRF, Scott Miller of WALK Radio (also a member of our Board of Directors), at the microphone, we tried to recognize all the people who made the 2007 Walk the most successful yet. As we go to press, we have raised $1.84 million and the money is still coming in. (It’s never too late to turn money in!)
The top winner of the evening was our star Walk team, Mimi’s Marchers, (the Benincasa family) raising more than $200,000 and taking home, for the fourth year in a row, the All-Island Award.
